£2100 Railway Cassic 2008. paving the way for the future.
Bank holiday Monday 25th August 11am at the Railway bowling club,
4 Biddulph Road, Hightown, Congleton, Cheshire, CW12 3JS.
The Railway classic this year takes on a unique approach in competition bowling, the idea is to promote and re-new interest in Crown green bowls, not only for the competitors but also the viewing spectators.
Each of the 16 highly qualified competitors have accepted invites to take part in what could be the changing face of competitive bowls; an entry fee of £100 ensures only the confident and capable take part.
The player draws his own number in the sweep on arrival.
Probably the biggest change to the norm is to play using three (yes 3) bowls instead of the usual two; this in itself introduces new tactics and varied strategies to the game, not least for the avid spectators who study the different tactics of various prolific prize winning competitors.
Another unique feature is the probability of a live feed worldwide via the internet to not only give those who are unable to attend a chance to watch the proceedings as they happen, also the opportunity to purchase recordings of the days play on dvd or similar media.
As always our resident bookmaker Colin “the price is right” Price will be attending, unfortunately without the sadly missed Freddie Hulme.
